🎉 The School District Has Acquired the Property! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that our community has achieved a major victory! The Boise School District has officially closed on the property, ensuring that it will serve the needs of our children and families instead of being developed into high-density housing.

This victory would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of our neighbors, parents, and supporters. Your voices, your advocacy, and your commitment to protecting our schools and community made all the difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who signed the petition, attended meetings, displayed yard signs, wrote letters, and fought alongside us. This outcome proves the power of collective action and standing up for what is right.

While this chapter is closing on a high note, our work is never done. The city still needs to enact meaningful changes to protect other neighborhoods from unsafe demolitions. We must also continue to bring visibility to gaps in the ‘modern zoning code’ whenever possible.

For now, let’s take a moment to celebrate this hard-earned victory—we did it! 🎉👏

Protect Southeast Boise from Overdevelopment

Join us in raising concerns about a project that could impact the safety, health, and character of our community. Paper Birch proposes adding 33 three-story townhouses, apartments, and a restaurant to the busy school zone on Linden between Boise Ave and Gekeler Ln. Together, we can advocate for thoughtful development that protects our neighborhood and its future.

Hearing Alert: Final Input

The project hearing is set for February 10th—your last chance to provide public feedback on this controversial development.

  • Demolition: The city has not required specific testing or safety measures for this project. This may put the community at risk of exposure to hazardous materials such as lead, asbestos, and PFAS. (Learn more | Read the Idaho Statesman Article)

  • Traffic: According to ACHD, the project will add 254 vehicle trips per day to the already congested Linden block, directly impacting White Pine and Timberline schools.

  • Construction: The project has a two-year construction window, with work permitted from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends. Past projects have shown a lack of enforcement on noise and work-hour restrictions.

  • Community Impact: The proposed three-story structures are uncommon for the area, obstructing views and altering the neighborhood character, much like the controversial Pennsylvania and Boise development.

  • Property Taxes: The addition of new, high-end units similar to those on Boise Ave and Pennsylvania, which are selling for $800,000+, could potentially influence assessed values in the surrounding area.

  • Linden Improvement Project: Linden is also slated improvements in 2028-2029 under the Integrated Five-Year Work Plan. This could result in overlapping disruptions that span up to 4 years.

  • Schools: White Pine and Liberty are currently at full capacity.
